Isla Fisher recently expressed her gratitude for the love and support she’s received from friends and fans following the announcement of her divorce from Sacha Baron Cohen.
“Thank you for all the kindness and support,” the 48-year-old actress wrote on her Instagram Story, accompanied by a photo of herself smiling while enjoying a glass of wine outdoors.
Divorce Announcement
In April, Fisher revealed that she and the “Borat” actor had quietly filed for divorce in 2023 after 14 years of marriage.
“After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our racquets down,” Fisher wrote in a heartfelt statement on Instagram, along with a picture of her and Cohen in tennis outfits. “In 2023, we jointly filed to end our marriage. We have always prioritized our privacy and have been quietly working through this change.”
Family and Privacy
The “Wedding Crashers” star emphasized that she and Cohen, 52, will always share their “devotion and love” for their three children: two daughters and one son.
“We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy,” she added.
Fisher’s announcement came after the media exclusively reported that the couple had been living separate lives for some time.
A Long-Term Relationship
Fisher and Cohen met at a party in Sydney in 2001, where they bonded over their shared sense of humor. They got engaged three years later and tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Paris in 2010. Throughout their marriage, they kept their daughters, aged 15 and 13, and their 8-year-old son largely out of the public eye to maintain their privacy.
Controversy and Denial
The news of their breakup coincided with accusations from Rebel Wilson, who claimed that Cohen had asked her to perform a lewd act for the 2016 film “The Brothers Grimsby.” Cohen denied these allegations.
His representatives told Media, “While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during, and after the production of ‘Grimsby.'”
Looking Ahead
Despite the end of their marriage, Fisher’s message indicates that she and Cohen are focused on maintaining a positive relationship for the sake of their children. As they navigate this transition, they continue to prioritize privacy and family well-being.
