The theme highlights the harmful effects of plastics on human and biodiversity health, with only 16% of plastics and plastic packaging being recycled.

Earth Day 2024 aims to raise awareness about plastic’s impact on human health, particularly in children, through its report “Babies vs. Plastics.”

The United Nations Global Plastic Treaty on Plastic Pollution, scheduled for 2024, is also highlighted, with earthday.org creating a petition to support it.
