A new BMW 7 Series is just around the corner and as much as we deny it, we could be looking at yet another quirky update from another Bimmer based on the prototypes spotted. The largest Bimmer sedan appears to be getting a two-level headlight. That’s definitely a polarizing design direction, so whether that’s a good thing or not, it’s all up to you.

To help you visualize a Bimmer with split headlights, Spain engine gives us an unofficial view of the upcoming new 7 series based on the spyshots. It’s honestly a lot to take in, but we still hope BMW doesn’t go for this fascia for the 7er.

The spied prototype showed us that there is a strip of LED at the top of the hood, while the main cluster sits below it. The two lighting modules appear to be enclosed in a rectangular shape. The kidney grille doesn’t get any smaller in the middle, so I hope we’re all used to it by now.

To be fair, the 7 Series isn’t the only Bimmer about to get a split headlight configuration. The X7 has been spotted with the same layout, with the large Sports activity vehicle recently caught on a field day at the Nurburgring.

The upcoming 7er will use an updated configuration of its CLAR platform. That said, expect the big sedan to come in a variety of powertrains, namely petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid and all-electric versions. There won’t be a V12 this time around, though, as the automaker confirmed back in 2019.

Expect BMW to unveil the next 7 Series sometime next year. Let’s see if the dual headlights for the sedan will work or not. For now, though, let us know your thoughts on the unofficial rendering in the comments section below.
