Antim Box Office Review: Expectations
The film is an official remake of the 2018 Marathi blockbuster Mulshi Pattern. Ever since the remake was announced, everyone has been pretty excited to see Salman Khan and Aayush Sharma land some slightly unusual roles. When we heard that Mahesh Manjrekar has the film in hand, a guarantee of good emotional content was assured.
Like most Bollywood movies, this one too was delayed in completion but wrapped up quickly. Delay didn’t have much of an impact because the film wasn’t a high-money project. The film was also cleverly presented and kept low during promotions. Although the film was said to be carried by Aayush, Salman’s name generated good pre-release buzz. And as we all know, good grades are expected at the box office when Salman’s name is confirmed.
Antim Box Office Review: Impact
This crime drama isn’t a complete copy-paste of Mulshi Pattern, and it works both ways – negative and positive. For those who have seen Mulshi Pattern, this film may disappoint as the raw story and screenplay has been ‘bollywoodised’ in many places. However, if you haven’t checked out the OG version yet, it definitely deserves your watch.
Aayush Sharma has improved a lot and steals the show here. Salman has taken the back seat and has given Aayush complete control in the film. The trick seems to work brilliantly as people flock to the theaters when they see Salman’s name and come out to praise Aayush’s performance. The best example is Bandra’s Gaiety Theater, which set up a house-filled board the day before release.
Antim Box Office Review: Final Verdict
Overall, Antim has things in his favor. It has more reach at the box office as Satyameva Jayate 2 mainly works in single screens with mixed word of mouth. Another advantage is that the film has a story with a Maharashtra background, giving it an edge over other releases in the state from a box office standpoint.
The only concern is the 50% occupancy rule in the states like Maharashtra. As of now, it looks like the movie will comfortably make a lifetime in the range of 75-80 crores.
