Chingari App, Indian Alternative To TikTok, Garners 2.5 Million Downloads
The ongoing military stand-off between India and China across the border area which resulted in a bloody confrontation in the Galwan valley area has resulted in increased calls for boycott of Chinese goods and products in the country.
Amid the development, a home-grown app called Chingari, touted as the ‘desi-alternative’ to video sharing app TikTok, is gaining momentum in the Indian digital space, reports Times of India.
According to the report, the app has garnered over 2.5 million downloads since its launch. The app has been developed by Sumit Ghosh, Biswatma Nayak, and Siddharth Gautam, mobile application developers from Chattisgarh, Odisha, and Karnataka respectively.
Sumit Ghosh, Product Head of Chingari, said that the app has been customised to meet the demands of Indian users. He further added, “We are receiving an overwhelming response from Indian users, and as per recent stats, the App has more than 25 lakh plus downloads. This is the only social application developed in India which is a complete rival to TikTok App.”
The report further adds that Chingari has features like trending news, entertainment news, funny videos, video songs, wishes, love quotes, status videos for WhatsApp etc. and over 10,000 creators are making entertaining content using this platform everyday.
