Digimon Survive: Plot, Gameplay & Initial Impression

With the arrival of the 20th Anniversary in 2018 for the Digimon franchise, Bandai announced the new game in the franchise called Digimon Survive. What will be the plot of this new Digimon game, and when will it release? Is the new Digimon coming this year? In this blog, we will discuss everything we know about Digimon Survive in detail. Digimon is a Japanese media franchise from Bandai Namco that started in 1997. Digimon focuses on the titular monster characters. These monsters come from the parallel world of Earth called Digital World.

The Digimon franchise is said to be the counterpart for the female Tamagotchi pets. The start for this new Tamagotchi was very successful and later gained more success with other media, such as anime adaptation or movies adaptation. The first anime adaptation called Digimon Adventures made another impact making the franchise get more audience. There are nine anime adaptations and over 10 movies in the Digimon franchise. There are also manga adaptations, manhua adaptations, etc.

Digimon Survive: Everything We Know

With the first announcement in 2018, Digimon fans have been eagerly waiting for Digimon Survive to release. What is it all about anyway and what will the players have to do in it? Digimon Survive is a new visual novel video game from Witchcraft, and Bandai Namco will publish it. The Visual Novel game will mainly focus on the survival and role-playing elements.

The developers, Witchcraft, have said that the Survive will have a more darker tone than its predecessor.

Plot

The game will have players take the role of a teenage boy, Takuma Momozuka. Takuma goes on a school camping trip along with his classmates.

During this trip, Takuma goes to a local temple to investigate the “Beast Gods” legend, along with Aoi Shibuya and Minoru Hyuuga. During this investigation, they hear a scream and run towards it to know more. Akuma, Aoi, and Minoru then see their classmates getting attacked by Digimons.

This makes the whole class realize that they have somehow traveled to another new and strange world, where there are monsters. Takuma and classmates then have to fight and learn of a way to get back to their own world.

Gameplay

Digimon Survive will be a Visual Novel where player choices are important. Like any other role-playing game, the consequences of the wrong choice can lead to the death of characters, be it friend or foe. The choices will also decide the Digivolution of the Digimon and the story progress.

There will be multiple types of gameplay types in the game.

• Drama Parts – In the Drama Parts, Digimon Survive will use the text adventures to tell the story.
• Free Action – In Free Action, the players can interact with other characters and find a way for the further progress of the story.
• Search Action – In the Search Action, the players must find a way to survive
• Free Battle – In Free Battle, the players will enter some areas to train their Digimons. It will also offer the items to be collected.

Digimon Survive has multiple endings, both good and bad. It will also provide multiple paths and Digivolution based on the choices.
