Far Cry 4: Plot and Ending Explained
What happens in the fourth installment of Far Cry? Are there several endings like its predecessors? Who is the main villain of Far Cry 4, and is he as interesting as Vaas from previous Far Cry? In this blog, we will discuss the plot and ending of Far Cry 4 in detail. Far Cry 4 is an action-adventure first-person shooter video game in the Far Cry franchise. Far Cry 4 released in 2014 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows. The game was originally a direct sequel to Far Cry 3. This idea did not come to fruition, and instead, a new story with new characters was chosen.
Far Cry 4 follows Ajay Ghale, who returns to his home country Kyrat on his mother’s last wish, but gets involved in a civil war between the violent king Pagan Min and a rebel group called the Golden Path. For Far Cry 4, developers took inspiration from the Nepalese Civil War. Pagan Min received huge praise from fans and critics and was called the show stealer in every appearance. Far Cry 4 was a positively received game and was a commercial success. Far Cry 4 has sold over nine million copies worldwide.
The Plot of Far Cry 4
The game starts with the protagonist, Ajay Ghale, coming to the fictional Himalayan country called Kyrat for his mother’s last request. The bus in which Ajay is traveling halts suddenly on the order of the violent king of Kyrat and the main antagonist of Far Cry 4, Pagan Min. Pagan Min recognizes Ajay and takes him as the prisoner. He tells Ajay about him and her mother’s involvement together. Pagan then leaves the scene and asks Ajay to enjoy the food. Ajay takes her mother Ashes and navigates around Pagan’s mansion. He eventually escapes with the aid of Sabal, a commander in the Golden Path, a rebel movement.
Ajay returns to Kyrat and learns that the Golden Path is fighting for the freedom of Kyrat and their own existence. Now seeing that the son of the founder of Golden Path himself has arrived, Ajay becomes a symbol. The Golden Path now start aiming to break the power of Pagan by targeting his three regional governors: Paul De Pleur Harmon, Noore Najjar, and Yuma Lau.
Eliminating The Generals of Pagan Min
The Golden Path itself faces a newfound problem inside. The two commanders, Sabal and Amita, are divided on the values of Kyrat should be after freedom. Sabal prefers Traditional values, and Amita wants the progress of Kyrat through the drug trade. Ajay always stops and breaks the argument. With the aid from one of the generals, Noore, Ajay learns the secret entrance of De Pleur. Ajay captures and learns that Noore’s parents are dead for many years. After this, the Golden Path asks Ajay to eliminate Noore. Ajay tells them that he will decide her fate and that she helped in De Pleur’s capture. Ajay then goes to Shanath Arena and finds a secret passage that directly leads to the back of Noore’s Stage. He reaches behind Noore’s stage giving a speech.
Ajay then has the choice to either kill her or spare her. If Ajay shoots, she will fall down, and the wild animals will tear her apart. If Ajay spares Noore then he will tap on her shoulder. Ajay will tell her that Pagan Min had killed her family way before. This breaks down Noore, where she will take the khukri of Ajay and slits her wrist. She throws his khukri, and as Ajay picks it up, she jumps down the stage and dies. The wild animal will then tear her apart. Either way, Noore Najjar dies.
Final
Willis Huntley from Far Cry 3 returns and contacts Ajay to clear up the airport from the Royal Army soldier. In exchange, he promises that he will provide Ajay with some intelligence. After Ajay kills the soldiers, Willis reveals that those were assets of the CIA, and they did not want anything to do with Kyrat anymore, and throws him out of his airplane. Ajay wakes up to find himself in the prison of the last general, Yuma Lau. Ajay escapes the prison. He learns that Yuma has now started despising Pagan, mainly due to him becoming soft towards Ajay’s late mother. Ajay with the Golden Path starts capturing the North, and Pagan betrays Yuma to Golden Path. Ajay then kills Yuma. The tension inside Golden Path, with the two commanders, now reaches the maximum limit, where Ajay has to choose any one of them. Any one of the leaders after they are chosen will send Ajay to kill the other so as to not start any other Civil war in the future. Ajay can spare or Kill the other commander, but the Golden Path will now have one leader.
