Halo Infinite: the origin of the harbinger explained

While I’m pretty sure the Harbinger is trying to free The Endless, some fans are already speculating that the Harbinger is ultimately interested in restoring the Precursors: an ancient and powerful race that created (and eventually destroyed) the Forerunners.

After the Forerunner-Precursor War ended, some of the remaining Precursors turned into an infectious “dust” that eventually gave birth to The Flood (which kind of simplifies the process, but you get the point). While the Flood carried out the basic will of the forerunners (i.e. “vengeance against the forerunners”), they were not “true” forerunners in terms of their form and abilities.
