When you change your photo, you can choose a photo you saved or take a new one. So if you want to upload a saved photo, make sure you saved it beforehand.

1. Open TikTok and go to your profile by tapping the Profile option in the lower right corner.

2. Press Edit profile option.

3. Select either change photo or Change video, depending on what you want. If you change the photo, you can select a photo you saved or take a new one; if you add a video, you have to choose one that you have already saved.

Quick Tip: Your video should be between three and six seconds long. If you pick something longer, you will have to shorten it.

4. Once you’ve chosen your new icon, crop it and press Save.

Your new photo or video will be uploaded and appear on your profile immediately. You can go through these steps again when you profile picture or again video.

Keep in mind that if you’ve uploaded both a photo and a video, the video will always show as your profile icon. If you want people to see the photo instead, go back to the Edit profile menu and tap your video then select Delete video.

How to download someone else’s TikTok profile picture

If you see a profile picture on TikTok that you’d like to see (and save) the full version of, it’s easy to download. Keep in mind that this way you can only save profile pictures, not videos.

1. In the TikTok app, go to the profile page of the user whose profile picture you want to save.

2. Tap their profile picture to open the sharing menu, then select Copy link.

3. This will copy a direct link to their profile to your phone. Put that link on your computer – the easiest way to do this is to email it to yourself.

4. Open that link on your computer in a web browser.

5. Right click on the user’s profile picture and select Open image in a new tab (or a similar option depending on your browser).

A full-resolution version of that profile picture will open in a new tab. You can now right click and save it like any other image.
