How to save time getting ready in the morning
Being late because you couldn’t decide which shoes to wear isn’t the greatest excuse.
If you find yourself plagued with indecision when it comes to getting ready in the morning and end up not being able to get yourself out the door in a decent amount of time, then you probably need to get some routine into your wardrobe chaos . Adding a little order to your closet will quickly improve your relationship and this in turn will help you never be late again!
Don’t let your wardrobe overwhelm you when it comes to getting ready in the morning, here are three ways to stay in control amid the morning rush of family life…
1) Select your entire outfit the night before
Every morning, avoid frantically rummaging through your entire outfit for the next day, right down to your shoes, bag, and other accessories the night before. You’ll save a huge amount of time and stress, and if you wake up and don’t feel like you want to wear what you’ve selected, it’s easy enough to edit it from there. (I recently wrote a post about Five new ways to organize your wardrobe.)
2) Keep your jewelry organized
Everyone has had the experience of rummaging through his overflowing jewelry box to find your favorite necklace you’ve wanted to wear that day, wrapped in knots and attached to four other necklaces and a pair of dangling earrings.
The best way to organize your jewelry so you don’t waste time in the morning is to take them all apart. Ideally, necklaces are more accessible (and stored) when they hang on small hooks, rings can be kept on a ring hand and keep your favorite pieces in a trusted place so you always know where to find the one you wear most often.
EXTRA TIP: The simpler really is better when it comes to accessories. Unless you’re trying to impress with a dazzling statement necklace or pair of earrings, stick to simple. Go for chic pieces that won’t balance out your outfit too much – or slow you down in the morning!
3) Separate your outerwear
Keep your hats, scarves, raincoats and winter coats in a different place from the rest of the clothes in your wardrobe, preferably by the door when you go outside. This will help prevent further messing around while you’re getting dressed. Just make sure to keep them in good condition, freshly laundered or with your favorite brooch on. Because of this, they can be an afterthought when you’re flying out the door to start your day.
I’d love you to share in the comments below, how often do you avoid feeling overwhelmed in the morning rush hour? Do you find it easier to get ready in the morning if you prepare the night before? Did any of these tips help you change your routine and have a better relationship with your wardrobe?
