HP is one of the most popular brands when it comes to Windows laptops. The company has given us many iconic laptops over the years, such as the HP Specter and the HP Pavilion x360 2-in-1 laptop. For many people looking for a mid-range laptop for work or study, HP is often the go-to brand. Now the company has come up with one of the lightest laptops on the market, the HP Pavilion Aero 13, and I was curious to see if the lightweight laptop is any good. After using the laptop for work and regular Netflix streaming for the past few weeks, I’ve come to really like the HP Pavilion Aero 13. This is why:

Design. The design of the HP Pavilion Aero 13 is my favorite thing about the laptop. It immediately looks super sleek. The aluminum finish with the rose gold color looks quite premium with the slim profile of the laptop. There are minimal bezels on the screen and the quality of the materials used is quite nice too. However, the best design feature of this laptop is its weight. He weighs less than a kilo! In my experience, this is arguably the lightest laptop I’ve ever used. In fact, it’s so light that while using the laptop for this review, I often picked it up at the same weight as my personal laptop, and it felt weightless. The MacBook Air is preferred by many for being lightweight, the HP Pavilion Aero 13 feels much lighter than the 2020 MacBook Air.

The HP Pavilion Aero weighs only 970 grams.

Moving on, we found that the HP Pavilion Aero 13 looks pretty good and is super light. The design is sleek and the laptop has a super slim profile. The HP Pavilion Aero 13 sat on my desk for at least two weeks or something, and people often mistook it for an Apple MacBook. In my books, that’s a big compliment and a good indication that this laptop is well designed.

Now there are other design elements about the HP Pavilion Aero that need to be talked about. For example, the keyboard on the device is good. The key travel is pleasant and there are hardly any typos. It may be a little less “clicky” for some users, but it worked fine for me while using it. I type a lot, and this has never given me a lack of feedback. There are backlights on the keyboard, so that’s a plus. However, the slim profile has forced HP to remove the LAN port and the SD card port. All in all, a big compliment from me in terms of design – great looks, super lightweight, great keyboard, slim profile – the design of the HP Pavilion Aero 13 has been well thought out and it shows.

The slim profile has forced HP to remove the LAN port and the SD card port. The HDMI port remains.

Display of the HP Pavilion Aero 13 is also quite nice. It is a panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. Simply put, it’s a good screen and the picture quality is clear and you don’t miss any details (as with some other HP laptops). It’s only a 60Hz display, but the responsiveness is much better than a standard 60Hz display laptop, thanks to what HP calls a “flicker-free” display. The color density is nice and you will end up watching a lot of Netflix shows and YouTube videos on this screen.

The screen of the HP Pavilion Aero 13 is bright and smooth.

In terms of performance, the HP Pavilion Aero showed great results. The laptop has been put to the test for what it is intended for. I’ve used this as my primary work laptop for two weeks, doing things like typing, editing images, uploading footage, doing research, and the like – the laptop showed no signs of slowing down during my use. I also use multiple screens, along with different windows from Google Chrome (we all know how much memory Chrome eats up), but the laptop didn’t slow down or run hotter. We’ve heard AMD processors slow down after the Windows 11 update, but the HP Pavilion Aero 13, which runs on AMD’s Ryzen 5 5600U processor, didn’t have this issue. The laptop comes with 16GB of RAM – that’s enough for all kinds of processes that I threw at the HP Pavilion Aero 13 during my time with the laptop.

More than the laptop’s multitasking ability, what impressed me the most was the thermals. Despite its sleek and lightweight design, the HP Aero 13 didn’t heat up during my time with the laptop — another factor AMD chips are usually criticized for. No heating on this one, despite the super light and slim design. Now this is being tested even further, as I didn’t get a chance to perform heavier tasks such as gaming or editing videos on the HP Aero 13. For work, business, and study alone, I don’t think the HP Aero 13’s performance will ever topple. be a problem. Good, smooth experience so far with no delays or heating.

There are two USB A ports on the HP Pavilion Aero 13, a USB Type-C port, an HDMI port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

When we talk only about performance, we are talking about the battery. The battery on the HP Pavilion Aero is a 43 Whr unit and that is sufficient. In fact, given the weight and size of the HP Pavilion Aero, a battery backup of over 4 hours on full brightness and with multiple tasks open is nothing short of impressive (again). Charging tasks are done by a 65W charger that does the job well.

The HP Pavilion Aero 13 is made for those who like to do things on the go. Whether it’s a student using it on the subway, or a businessman checking his mail in the car, or rather both types of people who work from home. As mentioned above, it might be the lightest laptop I’ve ever used. But the HP Pavilion Aero 13 isn’t just a lightweight laptop that cuts corners to reduce weight. It is a skilled, versatile performer that will appeal to most users in the market. The laptop does everything it was made for and does it with a certain finesse. While many disagree, the HP Pavilion Aero 13 is an easy recommendation for someone looking for something like a MacBook Air.
