Skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan gave the team a dream start as the Men in Green didn’t lose a single wicket in the power play. The duo took a small risk and continued to rotate the strikes regularly.

At the same time, they made sure to send the bad balls to the boundary rope. The duo remained undefeated until the end, leading the team home in 17.5 overs. Babar Azam scored 68 runs off 52 balls, while Mohammad Rizwan amassed 79 runs off 55 balls.

New Zealand, on the other hand, will play their first match of the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup on Tuesday. New Zealand has a good lineup and certainly has the potential to disrupt Pakistan’s momentum. However, they didn’t get off to a great start to their campaign, having lost both warm-up matches.

Tim Southee proved expensive in both games, but you expect him to lead the charge with Trent Boult. That said, Lockie Ferguson has bowled very well and has proven himself well in the XI playing. As for the spin, Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi are likely to make the cut.

New Zealand has a strong top order, which includes Martin Guptill, Devon Conway, Kane Williamson and Glenn Phillips. Guptill looked good in both games and that is a positive sign for New Zealand. He will likely pair up with Devon Conway for the opening slot.

Glenn Phillips’ last few innings in the shortest format don’t inspire much confidence and that could give New Zealand some tension. More so, because their lower mid-range is not known for their consistent performance.

Jimmy Neesham played a handy 18-ball 31-run knockout against Australia in the warm-up, but whether he will be able to replicate a similar performance against Pakistan remains to be seen.
