BMW is all set to use the . to launch 5 series facelift in India on June 24. The luxury sedan gets styling tweaks and technical upgrades with this mid-cycle update. The facelift of the BMW 5 Series was unveiled in international markets in May last year.

BMW 5 Series facelift: design

The exterior changes on the 5 Series facelift are concentrated on the front grille, which is wider and lower than before. It also gets a new single-frame design, with a chrome central element, and is housed in a re-profiled front bumper. The larger grille goes very well with the new headlights, which incorporate BMW’s Laserlight technology in higher variants. The headlights get quad LED bars, L-shaped daytime running lights and turn signals located on the outer edges. The facelift also gets more heavily textured taillights – which are similar in design to those of the latest 3 Series – as well as a redesigned rear bumper. In addition, all models of the 5 Series will be equipped with trapezoidal tailpipes, regardless of variant.

BMW 5-series facelift: interior

Inside, the 5 Series facelift gets the latest version of BMW’s seventh-generation iDrive infotainment system, along with a 10.3-inch central touchscreen as standard. Furthermore, the interior changes are focused on the dashboard, which gets a new, lower climate display, in addition to revised materials and glossy black details in the center console. In addition, entry-level models are expected to receive more equipment as standard than before.

BMW 5 Series facelift: engine and gearbox

While no official details are yet known, you can expect the facelift of the BMW 5 Series to continue the engine options of the current model. These include a 252 horsepower, 2.0-litre petrol engine in the 530i; a 190-hp 2.0-litre diesel in the 520d; and a 265 horsepower 3.0-litre diesel in the 530d. An 8-speed automatic transmission with torque converter will be standard across the range.

BMW 5 Series facelift: expected price and rivals

Currently, the BMW 5 Series in India costs between Rs 56 – 69.10 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Expect a slight increase in prices for the facelift, given the technical and styling updates it’s getting. In terms of rivals, the 5 Series competes with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Audi A6, Volvo S90 and the Jaguar XF.
