Sonic the Hedgehog: from Sega to the big screen

Sonic the hedgehog 2 the movie is based on the video game series of the same name that was started in 1991 by Sega. Originally, the game features a blue hedgehog with supersonic speed that must rescue animals from being turned into robots by a mad scientist

Doctor Robotnik is an evil scientist whose only wish is to take over the whole world. To do this, he needs to collect all six chaos emeralds which are located on the South Island.

The movie doesn’t venture too far off from the video game, yet it has added new elements to the story. In Sonic the Hedgehog 2, the audience will see the speedy blue hedgehog settling in green hills. Yet, Sonic is eager to prove he has what it takes to be a true hero.

Well, he gets his chance when Knuckles & Eggman team up to exact revenge on Sonic, while he & Tails try to keep the Master Emerald from falling into the wrong hands AKA evil Doctor Robotnik.

Trouble begins when Sonic is left at home as Tom & Maddie travel to Hawaii for a wedding. Set at the Four Seasons Oahu for cousin Rachel’s wedding (Natasha Rothwell), Sonic crashes the celebration by portaling in from a much colder location.

He warns everyone that Doctor Robotnik is back and in search of the precious emeralds, aiming to destroy all that they know and love. You can bet the little blue guy and buddy Tails get into lots of trouble before starting their journey to save the world.

And once again, the big bad Doctor Robotnik tries his best to get his hands on the all-powerful Master Crystal before Sonic can stop him. And if he succeeds the world will be in peril. while dr. Robotnik brought reinforcements in his mission to destroy humankind; the speedy blue hedgehog has it covered. Well, at least we hope so!

Hero Sonic (voiced by Ben Schwartz) joins forces with two-tailed yellow fox, Tails (Colleen O’Shaughnessey), in a game of good vs. evil in order to capture the much-desired Master Emerald and keep it out of control of villainous Dr. Robotnik (an over-the-top Jim Carrey).

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie is set to release on April 1st in the UK and on April 8th in the United States. That’s right; the wait is almost over, hedgehog fans!
