Only one team that still has a perfect record

A major sports league like the NFL is always more fun when it’s competitive and when there aren’t the same old teams that are successful every year. So it’s good to look at the standings and see only one side that has won all four of their matches so far. That team is the arizona cardinals, who currently lead the NFC West.

The Cardinals opened the season with a 38-13 win over the Tennessee Titans. The Titans are currently 2-2, so aren’t exactly a weak side, so it was impressive that the Cardinals managed to win by such a large margin. They followed up this win with a win against the Minnesota Vikings, in a close game that saw the lead changed several times, with the Cardinals almost holding a one-point lead.

Their next two games were slightly more routine wins, beating the Jacksonville Jaguars 31-19 and then tearing the LA Rams 37-20 apart. The Cardinals have a tough assignment next, against the San Francisco 49ers. Can they continue their winning streak? Everything will be revealed in a few days.

Brady finally starting to slow down?

Last week’s draw between the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was a reunion for seasoned pro Tom Brady, who played many successful years for the Patriots before moving south to Tampa, where he took his seventh Super Bowl win. Many thought Brady was over when he moved to the Bucs, but last season he showed he still had a lot to give.

In this match against his old team, however, he was thoroughly outplayed by his replacement, Mac Jones. Despite becoming the NFL’s all-time passing leader in this game, he appeared to struggle, not throwing a single touchdown and going 22-for-43 as the Patriots limited the Bucs to field goals only. On the other hand, Jones was 31-for-40, threw two touchdowns and picked up 275 passing yards, compared to Brady’s 269.

It didn’t matter in the end as the Bucs and Brady still won 19-17, but it certainly wouldn’t have gone unnoticed that Brady was outdone by Jones.

Out of all 32 teams in the NFL, it looked like the New York Jets would undoubtedly have the worst season. Their opening games went from bad (19-14 losses to the Carolina Panthers) to worse (on the wrong side of a 25-6 loss to the Patriots) to downright embarrassing (a 26-0 loss to the Denver Broncos).

Head coach Robert Saleh must have cursed his luck and desperate for something positive. The beam of light came in game four, where they eventually won a game by beating the Titans 27-24. The Jets now travel to London to face the Atlanta Falcons and hope the English public will cheer them on.

Meanwhile, only the Detroit Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars remain without a win this season. The Jaguars take on the Titans on Sunday the 10th as the Lions head north to take on the Vikings. Will both sides take a win this week? Possibly, but we wouldn’t be surprised if one, if not both, still comes without a win next week.

Candidates for the playoffs?

It may be a little early to say, but we can make an educated guess as to who could make it through the off-season. In the NFC, as discussed, the Cardinals look in excellent shape, as do the Dallas Cowboys, the Greenbay Packers and the Buccaneers. In the AFC, the Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens are off to a great start, so we hope their form continues through the end of the regular season.
