These are the devices that can download Android 12 now
Android 12 has been available on some Google devices for a while and has even made its way to some Samsung Galaxy devices for download. Since the build went official in October, manufacturers have been working to get Android 12 into the hands of their customers.
Devices with Android 12 availability
The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro came with Android 12 out of the box, meaning users who own a Pixel 6 or 6 Pro will already have the new Android experience with the Material You and all the AI-driven glory of the Pixel. Other Pixel devices prior to the Pixel 6 also received updates to the new iteration of Android, bringing the update across the line.
In contrast, Samsung was the first manufacturer besides Google to fully roll out Android 12 to a device. Samsung has long been associated with the slow draw when it comes to releasing new Android versions for its devices. It looks like it has turned the tables and started pushing Android 12 already in its One UI 4 form. The Samsung Galaxy S21 series is finished, after going through a beta testing phase and more will follow.
Here’s the full list of devices that can now upgrade to Android 12:

Android 12 in beta test
As mentioned, Samsung has a few devices in beta before the full versions roll out. Fortunately, it doesn’t look like these devices will stay in beta for very long as the Galaxy S21 series was in beta for a short time before moving on to the full One UI 4. Other manufacturers like ASUS have started testing Android. 12 beta also on select devices. OnePlus and Oppo have also entered a beta testing phase for some devices, although beta availability is limited. Here’s the current list of Android 12 beta devices available:

Note that OnePlus had began with closed beta for OnePlus 8T and OnePlus 8 series owners. That beta has since reached capacity and is no longer open to new users.
Upcoming devices that can download Android 12
Of course, Samsung’s list of devices currently in beta will definitely move to the full One UI 4. The full list of Samsung devices getting the Android 12 update is even bigger and includes the entire foldable portfolio, as well as other devices up to two years old. As previously discovered, most newer devices will receive their update around December 2021 and January 2022, with the timeline extending to July 2022.
It’s worth noting that carriers may delay the rollout of Android 12 for some Samsung devices over the course of its release. Because carriers like Verizon like to add certain elements to the build, it can take a little longer for new software to reach the user after going through its own testing phase with the carrier. So the timeline suggested by Samsung may not be completely accurate depending on your location and service provider. This should not affect unlocked devices as they are the most reliable to participate in the beta.
Another company that has announced its Android 12 upgrade game plan is ASUS. In October, the company announced that the Zenfone 8 series will get Android 12 in December 2021, while other devices will receive the update in 2022. Here’s the list and timeline we know so far:
- Zenfone 8 Series – December 2021
- ROG Phone 5 Series – Q1 2022
- Zenfone 7 Series – H1 2022
- ROG Phone 3 Series – H12022
As for when Oppo’s X3 Pro will leave beta, the company has indicated that it will get the full release around mid-November. This will be followed at the end of November by the Find X2 Pro series and the Reno6 series.
Finally, OnePlus announced the list of phones that would receive the update on time. These will all receive OxygenOS 12 on time with no time frame details:
- OnePlus 9R
- OnePlus 8 Series
- OnePlus 7 Series
- OnePlus North
- OnePlus North 2
- OnePlus North CE
Even if companies haven’t announced timelines for their devices, we’ll likely see upgrades to Android 12 for most newer phones sometime in the first half of 2022. It’s also worth noting that manufacturers like Samsung and OnePlus usually promise a certain number of years worth of updates to devices. For example, Samsung promises three years of Android updates, where the software remains as new as possible. For OnePlus devices such as the OnePlus 8 series and the OnePlus 9 series, the company also promises three years of Android updates.
