In May, the 2021 WNBA season kicked off with a thrilling opening night with two winning three-pointers. On Sunday, the regular season came to an end and now it’s time to turn our attention to the playoffs, which hopefully will be as exciting as the last five months of basketball.

As a quick refresh of the revamped playoff format that began in 2016, the top eight teams will make the playoffs regardless of their participation in the conference. The top two seeds get a bye until the semi-finals, while the number 3 and 4 seeds get a bye until the second round. Teams placed 5-8 begin play in the first round. The first and second rounds are single-elimination, while the semi-finals and finals are both best-of-five series. After each round, the teams are rearranged.

This season, the Connecticut Sun finished with the best record in the league at 26-6. In addition to a bye to the semi-finals, they also earned home advantage during the play-offs. By finishing second, the Las Vegas Aces also stamped their ticket to the semifinals.

Now that the playoffs are set, here’s a rundown of the first-round matchups and the full schedule for the 2021 WNBA Playoffs:
